Assistant Professor, Clinical Psychology, UIUC[she/her/ella]
Dr. Violeta J. Rodriguez is an Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign in the clinical-community psychology area. She completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Georgia, completed her predoctoral internship at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a masters in Measurement, Research, and Evaluation at the University of Miami. Her research focuses on identifying contextual factors related to mental health outcomes in children and families with inadequate, inaccessible, and of less-than-optimal quality mental health care globally; developing and refining instruments for use in these populations using advanced and culturally responsive psychometric methods; and translating evidence-based health promotion strategies/interventions in underserved settings to promote health equity. Her research has been funded by the National Institute of Mental Health and the Ford Foundation. While at the University of Georgia as a graduate student, she founded the Racial Trauma Task Force, work that she has now taken over at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee.
